The Patient Sea | Pelagic Lattice
Project type
Stoneware
Date
August 26
Location
Buckinghamshire
Size:
38 x 36 x 36 cm
The Patient Sea occupies the threshold between the Abyssal Reclamation and Pelagic Lattice series. Beginning with the fractured remains of a reclaimed vessel, imagined marine growth gradually transforms the sculpture until the solid form gives way to an open lattice. Rather than depicting a single moment of change, the work captures transformation in progress—the point where an abandoned object ceases to be defined by its past and begins to assume an entirely new identity.
The lower section retains the visual language of Abyssal Reclamation, where traces of the original vessel remain visible beneath coral-like growth. As the sculpture rises, the imagined marine forms become increasingly open and architectural, anticipating the skeletal structures explored throughout the Pelagic Lattice series.
