Recovered Relic - Coral Embrace

Once fractured and abandoned, Coral Embrace imagines a vessel that has spent decades beneath the sea, where destruction has become the beginning of transformation rather than its end.

Fragments of the original form remain visible, their sharp edges standing in quiet contrast to the organic structures that now surround and support them. Coral-like growth spreads across the exterior, appearing not as decoration but as a living framework that has gradually reclaimed and stabilised what was once broken.

The interplay between the dark exterior and luminous interior suggests the passage of time beneath shifting tides, where surfaces weather, layers are revealed, and familiar objects become absorbed into the rhythms of the natural world. Rather than concealing its fractured history, the vessel celebrates it, finding beauty in resilience and renewal.

Coral Embrace reflects one of the central ideas of the Abyssal Reclamation collection: that nature does not simply erase what humanity leaves behind—it transforms it into something entirely new.

Handmade in stoneware and finished with layered glazes, each vessel is individually crafted and cannot be replicated exactly. Variations in surface, texture, and glaze are integral to the making process and celebrate the unique character of each piece.

The piece measures at it widest point 55cm x 30cm high.
