Recovered Relic - Tidal Reliquary

Tidal Reliquary imagines an object that has rested undisturbed on the ocean floor for decades, gradually transformed by the quiet persistence of the sea. Layers of mineral-like texture and cascading blue-green glazes suggest the slow accumulation of marine life, while the softened spherical form hints at years of erosion beneath shifting tides.

The small opening remains as one of the few visible traces of its original purpose, now almost obscured beneath an evolving landscape of organic growth. Rather than concealing its history, the surface records it—celebrating the marks left by time, water, and nature's continual process of reclamation.

Balancing fragility with permanence, Tidal Reliquary reflects the central idea of the Abyssal Reclamation series: that even the most familiar human-made forms can be transformed into something entirely new when surrendered to the natural world.

Handmade in stoneware and finished with layered glazes, each vessel is individually crafted and cannot be replicated exactly. Variations in surface, texture, and glaze are integral to the making process and celebrate the unique character of each piece.
